Home is Where the Heart is

My youngest dog Griffin has been sick since Saturday. He won’t eat. He is barely drinking. He keeps throwing up. He’s had diarrhea. He’s depressed and lethargic. The vet is still trying to figure out what’s wrong with him. He’s testing for Parvo and Addison’ s disease today. This is really taking a toll on me and Travis. Griffin is our hyper, fun, silly baby. We don’t have kids test so our dogs are our babies. Travis is at the point that he’s willing to pay whatever it takes to make Griffin better. We have talked about what we are going to do if Griffin doesn’t get better. It’s heartbreaking that we may have to make the decision to put down a dog that has barely lived a year. I don’t know what to do here and the suspense is killing me not knowing what exactly is wrong. If you’re the praying sort please send one up for Griffin.

Holy cow…it’s been a long time since I last posted my own words. Not much has been happening except for family visits, work, and the holidays. Too much time spent at work and school and not enough time at home with my family. The fiance is starting second shift which means no more afternoons or normal weekends with him (this second shift means he works weekends and has off Mondays and Tuesdays). I’m already looking forward to the summer when all I’ll have to do is work and relax. For now it’s the old school, work, homework routine.

There’s been very few times in my life when I’ve had a “once in a life time” experience. My favorite has been getting engaged to my high school sweetheart back in April of this year. My second favorite occured tonight. My fiance and I made it down to the beach early this afternoon. The night before, my dad had called me and told me about a sea turtles nest that was going to hatch very soon. I figured that with my luck I would miss it. However, maybe by luck of the draw or God’s helping me cross stuff off of my bucket list, I got to see the miracle of creation tonight. We made it just in time to see the first tiny sea turtle make his way out of his rubbery shell. He blindly crawled his way to the ocean with the help of some volunteers. They had formed a trench out of sand and we made a barrier with our bodies to keep him safe. He followed the red light held by one of the volunteers to the ocean and his future. We watched and whispered in hushed tones about how precious he was and encouraged him when it looked like he was too tired to keep going. I named him Crush, after the sea turtle in Finding Nemo, silently in my head. I urged little Crush on and said a prayer that he would make it to the Gulf Stream and to a long, long life in the Big Blue. I hope he and his siblings make it through the many dangerous obstacles and the exhausting 30 mile swim to join the other sea turtles making a life out in the sea.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted here on la tumblr. My crazy dog chewed up the power cable to my laptop so I’ve been using my fiance’s and my roomie’s computers until I have the money to get a new cable. That may be difficult because corporate has cut my companies weekly hours down from 5,000 to 3,000. I’ve only gotten 4 hours of work this week. Of course, I’m going to the beach this weekend, but I have a feeling that I won’t get a lot of hours next week either. Oh the woes of being a part time worker at a big time company. As my roommate, Rebecca, keeps reminding me at least I have a job. She’s been looking for a job for a long time like me. I have a feeling that she’ll find something this fall because a lot of the summer workers will be leaving Charlotte for their fall semesters. Wishing her the best of luck! 

Apparently, I am very good at untangling jewlery and things like that. :) Nice to know that I’m good at something other than being totally awesome.  :D
